What have you been up to for the last 40 years?

Well, This is going to tax my memory, for sure.  A lot has happened since leaving AHS; I’ll try to summarize and only mention the highlights so it might lighten the reading burden.  If I try, I’ll remember pertinent milestones and dates.   Here goes…

Shortly after graduation from AHS, Mary Bryan, formerly from AHS class of 1964, and I became married and we continue to be happily married to this date.   We live in Broomfield, Colorado, not to far from the Ole Alma Mater of AHS.  Mary and I are graduates from Mesa College and University of Colorado, respectively.  Mary’s degree is in Fine Arts and mine in Computer Science.  We have two children --a daughter, Shannon, and a son, Tyler.  There are no grandchildren, however, we’re always hopeful that we will be blessed in that area.   Both our children live in Colorado and we visit with them frequently.  Shannon is the director of Human Resources at the University of Denver and Tyler is attending law school and is paralegal at a law firm in Durango, Colorado.

I retired from the IBM Corp. in 1996, but the thought of actual retirement confounded and disturbed me, so the Lockheed-Martin Company in the Denver area, where I’m a Development Programmer, employed me.  I still work for Lockheed-Martin.  Mary is an Interior Designer in the Denver area.

Mary and I are active in sports; we ski, bicycle, hike, enjoy yoga (mostly Mary for the yoga), play some golf (enjoy it, but I’m terrible at golf – Mary is better), and run.   I especially enjoy skiing and bicycling (on and off-road) and spend a lot of my spare time doing both.

q       Most inspiring teacher – Probably Mr. Tipper.  Although I didn’t like Mr. Tipper’s personality or mannerisms and got into a lot of trouble in his class, I respected and admired his enthusiasm for teaching.

q       Favorite High School Memory – Gotta’ be Monster Road –or- cruzin’ with the guys.

q       Favorite ‘60s Song – Redding’s “The Dock of The Bay”.

q       Special Places You Have Traveled – Recently, within the last 8 years, Mary and I have traveled several times to Great Britain, France, Germany and Italy.

What do you want to do with the rest of your life (the next 50 years!)

It’s my intention to volunteer for a ski patrol and teach skiing classes during my retirement.  My remaining retirement time will have to be filled with other “fun things” – maybe I’ll return to school.
