I married young, right out of high school and have two sons and two daughters from my first marriage who have blessed me with four beautiful grandchildren. My oldest daughter also graduated from Alameda in 82' and the other three from Lakewood High. I've been single for the past 14 years and have close ties to my family and also treasure old and true friendships from by-gone days. My greatest joy was learning that my oldest son remains cancer-free after two surgeries last year. Funny how life and a little time bring priorities into focus. The majority of my career has been spent in environmental engineering and I am now at a point in my life where I am moving into what I have really longed for, community service work. I still live in Lakewood, am very community conscious, do a bit of public speaking when called upon, serve on the executive board of the Mid-Lakewood Civic Association, and have recently been asked to run for Lakewood City Council. My favorite teacher was Mrs. DeFazio who broadened my knowledge of journalism and made me probe the truth in a story. It was she who suggested naming our school paper "Pieces of Eight." My least used and most wasted subject was shorthand!!!
