My wife, Jean and I, have been married for 22 years. Jean's a registered nurse
at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. We don't have children, but have always had
cats. The current two are Fred, a Balinese, and Buster, a Siamese. They're
cheaper than kids and come completely educated. Served four years in the Air
Force after high school, worked in Personnel by day and sang in clubs by night.
Got an AA at a Washington JC and spent an additional year at the UW, but that
was the end of my formal academics. Did a variety of work prior to landing at
the City of Seattle, construction, computer operator, roughneck, sales, etc.
Spent 24 years, starting as a clerk and ending as a Senior Systems Analyst,
before pulling the plug and retiring early.
Jean likes to garden and sew and I like to cook and play golf. I'm better at
the former than the later. I also play the guitar and sing now and then and am
reviving oil painting, which was something I did many years ago. I'm not likely
to achieve the skill shown by Jackie Seburn, but it keeps me off the streets
during the winter. About seven years ago we were lucky enough to acquire our
"dream house". It's not a mansion, but does have everything we ever thought
we'd want; large garage, big kitchen with cooking island, and a great room. We
expect to stay here at least until Jean retires, and then we'll see.
What do you want to do with the rest of your life (the next 50 years!)
I'm not sure what I want to do during the next two years, never mind the next
50. I've been retired for the last two years and it seems to be a good fit for
both of us. Being pretty domestically oriented helps and I've yet not lacked
for things to do. However, now that the reunion project is over, I'm beginning
to think of some things I could do that would be as satisfying. Will keep the
group apprised.
