What have you been up to for the last 40 years?

OK, I helped develop this Bio Form and now I have a writers block – 40 years – wow, what to say??  I am very happily married to David Auman and we have 5 grown children between us. Chuck – 36 – married with 3 children, Kathy – 34 – married with 3 children, Jeff – 31 – married with 1 daughter, Cindy – 29 – married with 1 son and a baby on the way, Beth – 21 – a senior at Penn State.  Beth is our sixth PSU student if you count the kids and spouses!!  All are thriving and keep us extremely busy. We have two computer consultants, one teacher, one with his own Recruitment firm, one nurse, one PhD professor, one logistics analyst, one engineer, and Beth is planning on a career with National Geographic. We are also lucky to still have all four of our parents.

Dave is a manager in the IT Dept  at our utility company – for 31 years – and is expected to retire at the end of this year if possible.  I am not so lucky – I plan on working for Penske Truck Leasing for another 4-5 years.  I am the Financial Manager for our Business Ventures group – and am responsible for the training, financial statements, and development for all new business that isn’t in our normal mainstream.  This position requires travel all over the country, Canada, and last year to India for a month.  It is very exciting to constantly meet new people and see new places.  My former positions were as Controller and CFO of two small to medium manufacturing companies.  Quite a culture shock to go from that to the largest truck leasing company in North America.

We love to travel for pleasure also, and have been to numerous countries and islands.  I guess the Hawaiian and Caribbean islands might be our favorite spots to land – especially in the winter.  I also loved my time in Amsterdam.  This year we have been to Miami, Aruba, Palm Desert, Seattle, and various close destinations for quick weekend trips.   Next year we are off to Disney World with 4 of the kids and their families in Jan, and to London and southern Spain for a couple of weeks in June.  This is made possible with our various vacation clubs with Disney and Marriott.

After leaving Alameda – in the middle of our senior year – I settled in the D.C. area to start college.  I have been married twice before and moved several times during those years.  Dave and I have been together for 11 years and are settled here in the Reading, Pa area.  Dave is a native of Reading, and the best thing that ever happened to me.

Our interests and hobbies – besides travel – are gardening, golf, tennis, and all sorts of activities with the ever-growing family.  Our grandchildren stretch from 16 years old to not yet born – they keep us constantly busy.  One of my solo interests is barbershop harmony and I am active in our local chapter of the Sweet Adelines.

My fondest memories of Alameda include the football games, concert choir, and plays.  Mr. LaSasso and Mr. Campbell would be at the top of my list of favorite teachers.

This reunion will be a wonderful adventure – I have enjoyed the 1 ½ years of e-mails and working on the reunion committee – hope to get to talk with everyone while we are together.

God Bless you all.

What do you want to do with the rest of your life (the next 50 years!)

We want to continue to keep close ties with all our children and grandchildren – I’m afraid if they move away we may have to follow them – luckily 4 of the 5 live within an hour.

We can’t wait to retire so we can have more time to golf, travel, and finally get in shape.  I wish everyone a wonderful future – please keep in touch!
