To cover the last 40
years short and sweet is a tough call but here goes.
After graduating from
Alameda our family moved to southern California just above San Diego. My
parents are still with us and live in Lakewood. I attended two years of college
in California. In 1966, I knew I was going to be drafted into the military so I
enlisted in the USAF. I was actually drafted into the Army 19 days into basic
training for the Air Force. Lucky me. I served a one-year tour of duty in
Vietnam and am currently the Senior Vice Commander for the Mesa City VFW. While
in the military I married and had two children, Denise Danielle and Brett
Tyler. That marriage ended when I was discharged from the service.
When discharged, I
entered the construction industry and moved to several states including New
Jersey, Florida, and Nevada. For 19 years I worked in construction in the Las
Vegas area where I met my current wife, Bonnie Rae MacDonald. By this marriage
I have three beautiful grandchildren, Allison, Kath, and Josh.
My wife and I moved to
our current location of Mesa, Arizona 2 ½ years ago. I own a small construction
company named “Random Match Wallcoverings”. Our business specializes in
installing wallpaper in model homes for various large builders in the valley.
I still like playing
golf and fishing. I know the fondest memories of high school were having fun
with friends and playing sports. I loved football then and still do. I am an
avid Bronco’s fan, win or lose.
My most inspiring
teacher was Max Osborne. Not just as a teacher but as our football coach and
leader as well. In school I loved partying and slow dancing to Johnny Mathis –
still do. I’m not into the twist anymore.
Well that’s about it for
me. Just wanted to say “Bless you all”.
