What have you been up to for the last 40 years?

After graduating from Alameda, I enrolled at Westminster College, Fulton, MO and successfully completed a four year program in Psychology resulting in a Bachelor of Arts degree.    I entered the Army in August 1967 as a commissioned officer and spent the next 6 years at various locations, including a one year tour of duty in Vietnam as a pilot. While stationed in Alabama, I attended Troy State University where I obtained a Master of Science degree in Business and Personal Management. I left the Army in August 1973 and spent the next 12 years in various professional pilot positions with Eastern Airlines and private corporations.  I then changed career paths and entered the aviation insurance industry.  I worked as an aviation insurance broker for a regional company in Minneapolis until 1984 at which time I founded my own agency specializing in aviation insurance for businesses and individuals.  I’m currently employed by Wings Insurance Agency (Eden Prairie, MN) as the owner/president and we are celebrating our 18th year in business.

My first marriage was to Julie Jones of Minneapolis in June 1967.  We have two daughters, Amy (31) and Emily (26). We were divorced in Sept 1995.  I married Jeana Johnson in June of this year.  She has three children, Justin (20), Grant (18) and Jamie (14).  My daughter Amy is married to Jon Hayes and lives in Thornton with my three grand children, Hannah (5), Hunter (3) and Maddie (1).  My other daughter, Emily is single and lives and works in Minneapolis.

I enjoy flying for business and pleasure and own a Mooney Eagle aircraft.  I also enjoy playing golf whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I have many great memories of my high school days at Alameda and the many wonderful friends I made.  Unfortunately I haven’t stayed in contact with them over the years and have not been able to attend previous reunions.  I’m very excited to be able to attend our 40th and looking forward to reacquainting with past friends. I’m anxious to hear their life stories and relive some of the great times we shared when life was much simpler.

What do you want to do with the rest of your life (the next 50 years!)

My plans are to spend the rest of my life, loving and enjoying it with Jeana.  I’m a very fortunate man to have her in my life (sounds like a newlywed alright).  My plans are to work in my business for the next 5 years or so and then sell the agency and then retire to the Southwest.  I look forward to enjoying a more relaxed life style, playing golf and traveling in our airplane. This will include several trips to Denver and Minneapolis, spending as much time as we can with our children and grandchildren.  They truly are God’s gift to older people.
